If you go back a long way the snowboard was actually called  "snufer". This was created by a surfer named Sherman Poppen. The snurfer was a surfboard for the snow. It went into a ceramical soon after it was made. Between 1965-1975 more than 1 million snurfers were sold for the price of $15 a piece.

Now let’s talk about some great snowboarders. Victoria Karine Ruby holds a record that no one in the snowboarding part of the olympics has yet come close to beating the record that she holds is 67 world cups. That’s crazy!! The first women event was held on the 10th of February ,a giant slalom on the snow of Mount Yakebitai. The 20-year-old French athlete won by some margin and wrote her name into the history books.

Another great snowboarder is Chloe Kim.The California girl that went to the Olympics.

It is a perfect, easy and oh-so-fitting description for the 17-year-old from Torrance, California. The Olympic snowboarder loves music and the mall almost as much as she loves competing. Whether it is fair or not, Chloe has come to represent more than that for these Olympics
